Underwater World Pattaya, An Aquatic Attraction in 180 degrees
The great thing about aquariums is that you can view extraordinary water animals without having to get wet. It’s also practical for people who don’t like to dive or don’t know how. Underwater World Pattaya is one of two large-scale aquariums in Thailand. Visitors will get to view over 2000 animals of over 200 species in this aquatic attraction. Walk down the 100m long underwater tunnel, and enjoy a 180 degree panoramic view of all the sea creatures swimming behind tanks.
The first exhibit is known as the ‘Touch Pool’. Here visitors are allowed to dip their arms into the fish tank and stroke the fish and other friendly sea creatures. If you don’t want to get wet, feed the carps or sea turtles instead. The pool contains a selection of animals found in rock pools and coastal areas around Thailand; a sea cucumber, a starfish, and stingray, are just some of the highlights of the pool. The Touch Pool is a neat way of entertaining visitors, especially children, from the start. A word of caution, please be careful when handling the animals; Do Not remove animals from the water, and Do Not touch turtles when feeding (they may bite).
After the Touch Pool, you will begin your 100m walk through three sections of the tunnel beginning with the ‘Coral Reef Zone’, followed by the ‘Open Ocean Zone’, and finally the ‘Giant of Siam Zone’. The Coral Reef Zone is an artificial reef. Here you will be able to view the fish and sea animals that live in and around reefs such as Leopard Sharks, Butterfly Fish, Snappers, and more. The fish here are mostly small-sized. Walking over to the Open Ocean Zone, the fish here are much bigger and live in deeper depths of the ocean. You’ll get to see Groupers, Blacktip Sharks, Guitarfish, Rays, and more. Inside the Giant of Siam Zone is a collection of fresh water fish including Seven-striped Carps, Giant Gourami, Siamese Giant Carp, Chao Phraya Giant Catfish, and more.
