The beauty of Tana Islet is acknowledged as one of the best sunset spots in Thailand because the evening Sun really emphasize distinctiveness of the rocks here. So if you have a chance to visit “Kaeng Tana”, be sure to spare sometimes or choose to come here in the evening if you can.
There are two ways to get to Kaeng Tana National Park; by car or by boat. For those who choose to go there by car, you have two choices of routes as follow
- The right sided route of Tana Islet. When you get to Phibun Mangsahan district, take Route 2173 to Chong Mek Sub district. Continue on the road until you reach the 73th Milestone at Barn Kham Khuean Kaeo, then turn left to Route 2296 and continue for another 90 Kilometers.
- The left sided route of Tana Islet. At Phibun Mangsahan district, take the 200th year Phibun Mangsahan Bridge to Khong Chiam district. 4 Kilometers before you reach Khong Chiam, there is going to be an intersection, take a right turn to and continue for another 90 Kilometers to Kaeng Tana National Park. A plus for this route is that you can enjoy the beauty of Tana Islet along the way.
However, we really recommend you to get there by boat to experience way of lives of people along Mekong and Moon Rivers as well as glimpse of Cambodian civilization of Jenla era. Speed boat with rooftop can be arranged at Khong Chiam Pier at a cost of 1,000 baht just for yourself or share with other people since it can contain up to 12 people/ boat.
Last but not least, the best time to visit Tana Islet is during the low tide season which is around end of December to February. If you happen to come during rainy season, you might not be able to see the beautiful rocks since all the water may cover them.
