One of the interesting places to go and relax in Phatthalung province is Thale Noi Waterfowl Park, part of Khuan Khanun district. This wetland covers an area of 457 sq.km, in which the lake accounts for 28 sq.km. It has become the home to over hundred species of resident and migratory birds. This is definitely an excitement for all the bird watching enthusiasts out there. Apart from the flocks of birds, a sea of blooming lotus is the main attraction that people come for.
The lotus blooming season is from February to May annually. Thale Noi is suitable for 2 days 1 night trip. Of course, there are other attractions in Phatthalung, such as Khao Ok Talu, Coconut Shell Handicraft Centre of Mueang Phatthalung and others. So, you may plan how long you are going to stay to explore Phatthalung on your own pace.
On first day, you can rent a bike from the guesthouse to explore Thale Noi’s community way of life. There is a fishing village nearby in Pak Pra where you could see the special fishing nets set up above the water. You can admire the sunset as well. At night, savour delicious and cheap seafood meal nearby the boat pier. On the next morning, take the boat to see sunrise, blooming lotus, birds and buffaloes crossing the water.

You can choose to stay at Chuanchom Resort, a family owned guesthouse located just a walking distance to boat pier. Free bike rentals are available. The owner is happy to help you with boat hiring to see the lotus lake upon request. You can find local eateries along the street when you walk out from the guesthouse. I would recommend you to try out the seafood dinner, exactly opposite the main road.
