The name Jakkajan, once translated, is Cicada; the English name of the market. Its location in the hills was purposely chosen to follow the ‘open-mind, open-mat’ concept. What is this concept you ask? Since the market is centered on various forms of art, the open-air atmosphere is to get visitors to be inspired, thus open-minded. The open-mat is the manner in which items for sale are displayed, on a mat. You can even bring your own mat and goods, and sell them here.
