Mansion 7 was designed by a French architect and is part of the estate belonging to the Piriyotha Family. Not so long after it was built, Ratchada Piriyotha, a medical officer, was taken as a prisoner of war and locked up in a pitch dark cell. There he suffered serious physical and psychological torture. If that wasn’t enough, upon her 17th birthday, Ratchada’s daughter passed away. Unable to get over the loss of his daughter, Ratchada became obsessed with trying to bring her back to life.

The mansion was closed off not allowing any visitors. It wasn’t until neighbors began hearing screams and shrieks coming from the mansion that an investigation ensued, revealing a secret room where dark experiments took place on death row inmates that mysteriously disappeared. It is said that those ill-fated enough to become a prisoner of the mansion would suffer a painful and horrible death; his/her soul would be tormented, and thus bound for revenge.

Now that you know a bit about the horrible history of this building, do you dare take a walk to learn more of its dark past? If you think that Mansion 7 is just another mansion, be prepared to be shocked. Mansion 7 is a boutique thriller mall with many shops and attractions for visitors of all ages. You will immediately notice that the interior design ofMansion 7 is all about scary thrills and haunted horrors.

Once through the doors, you will come across the Neglected Garden Zone. The theme of this area is a withered forest. This ‘abandoned’ zone is filled with shops selling products you’ll only find here. Look for the blood moon, there you will find The Playground. In this area, you can sit back and calm your racing heart down, enjoy playing the games that will challenge your skills (40Baht per game), or dine in one of the many restaurants available.

All shops in Mansion 7 are designed differently; walk around to find out which has the scariest decor.  The main attraction of Mansion 7 is of course the Dark Mansion, the root of evil. You will be happy to know that the Dark Mansion isn’t a torture chamber anymore, but a thrilling haunted house for those daring or brave enough to test their wits and courage.

For sure if you want a scare, you can always come back to Mansion 7 because the interior design of the haunted house changes throughout the year. Entrance to the Dark Mansion costs 180 Baht per person for 30 minutes. Groups can contain no more than 5 persons. Warning: Only for persons age 14+. Not permitted to those with a heart condition or disease.

    Editor's Comment

    • Strong point:
    • Getting to and from Mansion 7 is convenient thanks to the MRT station nearby. Parking space is also available. Plenty of shops and games make the place an amusement park more than a mall. The Dark Mansion haunted house is the highlight of Mansion 7.
    • Weak point:
    • Visiting the mall during the afternoon is not recommended since the place is not air conditioned apart from in the shops and restaurants. Mansion 7 can get very hot.
    • Conclusion:
    • Mansion 7 offers something new other than the massive shopping complexes or open-air markets popular in Bangkok. This boutique mall has a concept that is visible throughout
