It has been more than 200 years since Madame Tussauds first opened in London. Since then, the tradition of wax figure making has remained. The wax figures are exact replicas of their actual human counterpart. A team of sculptors and painters take from four to six months to make one wax figure.

Past the ticket booth into the first room is ‘The Royal Room’. In here are the wax figures of H.M. King Rama 7(H.M. King Rama 8 and 9’s father), and H.M. Queen Srinagarindra (H.M. King Rama 8 and 9’s mother). Also in this room are pictures and descriptions of the members of the Chakri dynasty.

The second room brings you face to face with historical and political figures such as Barrack Obama, Mahatma Gandhi, Aung San Suu Kyi, etc.

Room number three is a visit to meet the most brilliant minds of our time. Meet with Dr. Pornthip Rojanasunan, Thailand’s leading CSI, or Silpa Bhirasri, the architect of 18 of Bangkok’s prominent monuments, in the ‘Arts & Science’ room

The fourth room is a collection of the world’s best athletes from across the world. Stand beside Steven Gerrard so that you’ll never have to walk alone. Check out “the left arm that drills intestines” belonging to former Thai boxer Khaosai Galaxy.

Head over to the fifth room to visit Beyonce Knowles, Madonna, Michel Jackson, and other Asian singers.

In the sixth room you will get to take photos of your favorite TV and movie stars, both Thai and International. Visit the likes of Jim Carrey, Bruce Lee, Pancake (Khemanit Jamikorn), and many more.

The seventh room is a collection of famous talk shows including an interview with Opera. Try out your abilities as a talk show host here.

The eighth and final room is the party room. The room is meant to make you feel as if you were hanging out with the best of Hollywood at a party. Chill out with Will Smith, George Clooney, Nicole Kidman, and other silver screen super stars.

Once you’ve finished the tour of the museum, walk to the second floor to see the wax figure ofMadame Marie Tussaud herself, the creator and curator of the original Madame Tussauds in London over 200 years ago. Read about her history, as well as the process of molding and sculpting wax into almost real-life human figures.

    Editor's Comment

    • Strong point:
    • Getting to the wax museum is very convenient; easily accessible by BTS. There are activities and games for you to participate in. The guides know a lot about the wax figures; ask them about it.
    • Weak point:
    • The wax museum is still relatively new therefore the layout of the figures is difficult to see and get around if many visitors are visiting at once. There are few bathrooms in the vicinity.
    • Conclusion:
    • Madame Tussauds is what you would expect; a chance for you to get up close and personal with your favorite or most hated celebrities and historical figures. Madame Tussauds does deliver a blend of history and celebrity in one package for people of all ages to come and enjoy.
