Pattaya Viewpoint: 360 degree view of Pattaya and Jomtien

The nightlife in Pattaya is what makes this city so popular, but people forget that there is more to Pattaya than just bars and clubs. Pattaya is home to many attractions including a miniature Siam museum, the floating market, Underwater World, and more. One overlooked attraction in this city is the viewpoint on Pattaya Hill or also known as Pattaya Buddha Hill. From up here, you can see all of Pattaya and Jomtien in 360 degrees.

The viewpoint is situated on Pattaya Hill. Locals refer to the hill as 'Khao Phra Tum Nak' or 'Khao Phra Baht'. The hill separates Pattaya beach from Jomtien beach. To get to the viewpoint, drive down Pattaya Sai 1 (beach front road) and through the Walking Street to the end. Once at Bali Hai pier, turn left at the first junction and continue straight. Turn right at the junction under the bridge, and follow the road and signs to get to the top. Please drive carefully, the road has sharp curves and is fairly steep.

Once at the top, the first noticeable thing you will see is the radio antenna of FM 104.75; it’s the navy radio. Also in the vicinity are a few souvenir shops and a motel. The most important landmark on the hill is of course the memorial to Prince Apakorn; Father of the Royal Thai Navy. This statue is part of the 217 memorials found all over Thailand. Many people, especially sailors, come to visit the viewpoint simply to pay their respects. The memorial and viewpoint is open for visit from 07.00 – 22.00 every day.

The viewpoint offers quite a view of both sides of the beach. Look to your left and you will seeJomtien beach, and to your right is Pattaya beach. If you’re visiting the viewpoint early morning, you can take a rest in the garden/park nearby, in the afternoon. If you didn’t notice it at Bali Hai pier on the way here, don’t forget to go back to the pier to take photos of the Pattaya City name on the hill, just like Hollywood. Pattaya Hill is a simple attraction for all tourists. From here, you’ll not only get to see 360 degrees view of the entire city, but you’ll also get to take great photos as well.

    • Strong point:
    • Easily accessible by car, and not difficult to find. You can visit the viewpoint night or day.
    • Weak point:
    • Limited parking space on the hill. The road is steep and narrow, please drive with caution. Few trees at the viewpoint make the area quite hot in the afternoon.
    • Conclusion:
    • The viewpoint offers quite a view of both sides of the beach. Pattaya Hill is a simple attraction for all tourists. From here, you’ll not only get to see 360 degrees view of the entire city, but you’ll also get to take great photos as well.
