Kad Kong Ta: Lampang's famous walking street

If you’ve been to Lampang, then Kad Kong Ta should sound familiar. If not, it’s time for you to find out exactly what it is. Although a lot has change over the years in Kad Kong Ta, it still remains one of Lampang’s busiest commercial areas. Along both sides of the road, you will find plenty of food, restaurants, desserts, souvenirs, and much more that you can buy. By now, you should be able to guess that Kad Kong Ta is none other than the town’s famous walking street.

One of the most attractive things about the walking street is the century old building Mong Gnoy Sin. The building is made of concrete and wood, and has a beautiful Burmese design. Notice the intricate patterns on the wood. Many artists agree that this Burmese-style building is the most beautiful in Thailand.

The walking street, like any other in Thailand, will offer you the chance to try out a lot of different foods especially local delicacies. Kanom Kao Pun, also known as Kanom Tuay Jeen, is one local specialty that comes in little bowls much like Kanom Tuay, however, the look and taste is totally different. This hard-to-find snack is eaten with various toppings including garlic, pepper, and more. If you want to have a meal, pop into Kanom Jeen Pah Pong restaurant. This restaurant sells a myriad of soups and curries for you to try.

Apart from the food, Kad Kong Ta Walking Street also has many stores selling local handmade products including clothes, artwork, and toys such as wooden tops. The latest attraction in the walking street is theLampang Arts Center where you’ll get to see a wonderful collection of local arts and crafts.

The walking street is probably the liveliest place in town. You’ll get to see many new and old things from the province of Lampang, not to mention all the local specialties that you should give a try. The weekend is the best time to visit since it’s always the busiest time of the week.

    • Strong point:
    • The walking street is a lively place with a lot of things to see, food to eat, and stores and stalls to buy things from.
    • Weak point:
    • There are few bins to throw away your garbage. You can ask the vendors to throw them away for you.
    • Conclusion:
    • The walking street is probably the liveliest place in town. You’ll get to see many new and old things from the province of Lampang, not to mention all the local specialties that you should give a try. The weekend is the best time to visit since it’s always the busiest time of the week.

    How To Get There

From the clock tower intersection (Hor Nalika) in Lampang town, go down Boonwat road and turn left on Thipwan road. Continue straight towards the river. The walking street is along the river.
